Service Description

Why Fertilize? • Stimulate grass growth • Restore depleted nutrients • Support establishing pastures When is the best time to fertilize horse pasture? • Early spring • After a cutting • Late fall Fertilizer is recommended as soon as horse pastures have thawed in the spring. This will provide critical nourishment during the spring growing season and allow grasses to establish before the intense summer heat. If you are lucky enough to be able to harvest hay from your Colorado fields, a fertilizer application after the first harvesting of hay or straw can support subsequent cuttings. The soil will be depleted of nutrients and need a little help for the next cutting to grow tall and healthy. Adding fertilizer to the pasture again in the late fall can also help infuse nutrients back into the soil before winter hits, so the ground can settle properly in preparation for the new growth of spring. Go organic with fertilizing? By adding legumes into the seed mix we can vital nutrients into the soil.
